GEORGIA (WTXL) — Friday, Georgia will become one of the first state's to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic.
But, some gyms don't want to do the heavy lifting when the state begins to reopen its economy.
Governor Brian Kemp is allowing some small businesses, including gyms, to start serving customers again.
But the decision is controversial. Some fitness centers plan to remain closed, including Soul Cycle and at least some Planet Fitness locations.
Others will reopen, but they'll limit the numbers of customers inside.
Kemp took fire from several mayors, and President Trump joined the criticism on Wednesday.
"It's one way to stay healthy and keep your immune system up and fight off this virus," said Mary Clair Fears.
Gym goers appear to be split on the issue.
"It's a health hazard," Jordan Toler said. "Honestly, right now, with everything that's going on, it's way too early."
Businesses are re-opening even though coronavirus cases in the state are still increasing.
