SEMINOLE COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Seminole County Schools in South Georgia will be closed through March 27 after an employee began showing symptoms of coronavirus.
The Seminole County Schools System says they were notified Thursday night that an employee was showing symptoms of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
Officials say the employee could have been exposed to the virus in a doctor's office in another state.
School officials say they have notified parents and guardians of all students had contact with the employee in question and say they will continue to follow guidance from the Georgia Department of Health.
To minimize risk, all schools in the county will be closed through March 27 and will reopen on March 30. All extra-curricular activities have been suspended.
