TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Second Harvest of the Big Bend is getting ready for one of their biggest food distributions of the year.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, Governors Square Mall in Tallahassee will host Second Harvest's first holiday food distribution.
"We're really excited to be able to supply families this time with 60 pounds of food for each family and we're prepared to serve over 1,000 families," said Monique Van Pelt, President, and CEO of Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
Van Pelt said with all of the stress and frustrations caused by the pandemic, this couldn't come at a better time.
"With the holidays occurring currently, and more holidays coming up, we know that families are in really tough positions," said Van Pelt. "So at Second Harvest we just want to make sure that whether or not they choose to purchase food, that consideration is off the table. We want to make sure that food is provided at no cost so that their limited funds perhaps can be used other ways this holiday season."
If you or someone you know needs help this holiday season, you can find Second Harvest at Governor's Square Mall at 9 a.m.
