TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Authorities seized pounds of marijuana and multiple guns from a suspected drug trafficker Wednesday morning.
Early Wednesday morning, members of the Tallahassee Police Department’s Special Investigations Section, U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force and Leon County Sheriff’s Office began searching for a wanted suspect to safely take him into custody.
They say the suspect, 28-year-old Ladarius Dickey, had a warrant for failing to appear on charges of felony fleeing and eluding. He also had previously been arrested on firearms charges and was seen recently with several handguns.
Later Wednesday, Dickey was found traveling on North Monroe Street in a rented 2020 BMW. When officers tried to pull him over, he tried to get away in his car but was quickly apprehended.
TPD say a search of the vehicle yielded over 30 pounds of cannabis, a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia.
When officers later obtained a search warrant for his home, they found more cannabis and another gun.
Police say Dickey was charged with the original felony fleeing and eluding warrant, as well as trafficking in cannabis, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting arrest without violence and possession of paraphernalia.
