TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Instead of walking across a stage hundreds of seniors and parents packed the Civic Center parking lot for the Rickards High School drive-thru graduation.
Students watched the ceremony on two big screens and co-valedictorians Rayyan Darji and Tanvi Haldiya had one last opportunity to address their fellow classmates.
"It's a great event going on right now," said Darji. "And it was a really big honor for me to speak and represent the entire student body of Rickards class of 2020."
"Yeah, I would agree with Rayyan," Haldiya said. "Of course this graduation wasn't ideal, but amidst a pandemic that this is the most we can do. It's a huge honor for me to speak to my class, to my friends. That means so much to me."
The names of graduating seniors were called out while their class photo was televised onto a big screen.
The Civic Center will host another high school graduation Thursday.
