TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Allowing grocery stores to start administering vaccines will take some of the pressure off of sites like the fire department and the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.

There are already 300 vaccination clinics running inside Publix stores across Florida with clinics soon opening in Leon County. Walmart now has plans to open clinics in four stores in Tallahassee.

Ebonie Williams, a nurse practitioner for Bond Community Health, who has been on the front lines giving these vaccinations, said she's encouraged hearing that vaccines will become more available for all seniors.

"Our goal is to still vaccinate as many people as possible that meet the criteria specified by the state so we're still here to give vaccines to individuals seeking care that may not be able to get to some of the retail pharmacies," said Williams.

During the latest vaccination update from Leon Department of health, there were nearly 5 thousand people on the waitlist to be vaccinated.
