Prepare for safety changes when moving due to COVID-19

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The last weekend in June is usually the busiest moving weekend of the year. In 2019, Two Men and a Truck completed 6,200 moves that weekend.

Moving is an even bigger hassle in the middle of a pandemic.

All of the movers for Two Men and a Truck wear gloves and mask, plus they disinfect trucks before and after every move.

One thing you can do to make the process go smoother is to prepare for a virtual estimate instead of an in-home one.

“So in the past, me personally I would actually be in a house visiting and getting a list of what needs to be moved,” said Two Men and a Truck general manager Tom Hunter. “Obviously, we're trying to reduce the contact as much as possible so it’s basically like a Zoom meeting like we’re doing now where the customer will be able to walk me through the house with the camera phone so I can get a list of all that they need to move.”

There’s also one item that should be set aside from the rest of your moving boxes.

“Leave your cleaning supplies unpacked so don’t have us move that,” said Hunter. “What we suggest is actually maybe take a box or a bag and put all of your cleaning supplies to the side. Take those with you in your car that way you can have it to wipe everything down at the old house as well as at the new house once it gets unloaded.”
