TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Almost six years after the death of FSU law professor Dan Markel, friends are petitioning State Attorney Jack Campbell to charge more people in connection to his murder.

Markel's friend Jason Solomon started the petition urging the state attorney to file charges against Dan Markel's in-laws.

Solomon says the state has enough evidence to support that the Adelson family paid hitmen to kill Markel.

So far, about 800 people have signed the petition.

"It looks like there won't be additional evidence coming in," said Solomon. "The people that could cooperate and testify against the Adelsons won't have the opportunity to do so. Now it makes sense to arrest Charlie and Donna Adelson."

Luis Rivera confessed to the murder, Sigfredo Garcia was found guilty of murder last October, and a hung jury couldn't convict Katherine Magbanua.

She's currently awaiting her re-trial.
