LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A physical education teacher at Woodville Pre-K-8 School has been arrested on several counts related to the sexual battery of a child.

According to court documents, Brian Winsett, 51, was arrested by the Tallahassee Police Department on Monday on two counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving a child and unlawful use of a communication device.

Details surrounding the nature of the charges were not immediately available through Leon County's court records Monday afternoon.

Chris Petley, a spokesperson for Leon County Schools, confirmed that Winsett has been placed on administrative leave pending review of the case.

Winsett's first appearance in court was set for Monday morning.

Back in October 2019, Winsett was arrested on soliciting prostitution charges by TPD, according to court documents. He took a deferred prosecution agreement, which means the prostitution charges will be dropped if he completes the terms of the agreement.

ABC 27 has reached out to TPD for more information about the case and are waiting to hear back.
