(WTXL) — One person is dead following an accident in Gadsden County Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, it responded to an accident on Blue Star Highway (U.S. Highway 90) south of the Interstate 10 exit and OOchlocknee Point Drive after 5 p.m.
The accident involved a pedestrian and a vehicle.
The FHP report notes, the vehicle, which was a tow truck, was traveling westbound in the outside lane.
The pedestrian was walking on the north shoulder of the roadway.
The report said a collision occurred between the truck and the pedestrian. The truck, which was driven by a 49-year-old man of Blountstown, came to a controlled stop.
The pedestrian, a 47-year-old man of Marianna, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic going westbound on U.S. 90 was temporarily shut down for the crash investigation and traffic was being diverted.
FHP notes it was assisted on scene by the Midway Fire and Rescue.
