TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — In addition to having your hurricane kit ready to go, now is also the time to get your legal affairs in order for hurricane season.
Legal Services of North Florida is reminding you to not forget the three P's: Papers, pictures and property.
Before the storm hits take pictures of the outside and inside of your home, have proof of home ownership, and, in case of evacuation, have important documents like your drivers license, passport and birth certificates with your hurricane kit.
"That's where you put your documents," said Kathy Grunewald, disaster coordinator attorney. "If you have them, put in a plastic container or plastic sleeve. The other thing is you can buy an inexpensive fire proof and water proof safe that you can easily pick up and move with you if you're evacuating."
Legal Services of North Florida provides free legal help to 16 counties in north Florida.
