TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — New numbers from the CDC show flu deaths for children are reaching record highs.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the flu has killed 16,000 people in the U.S. so far this season.
Of those deaths, 105 were children. It's the highest number since the flu pandemic in 2009.
In Georgia, four children have died from the flu so far this season. In Florida, nine children have died from the flu so far this season.
Two of those, just last week.
The Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report from the CDC shows that last week, Georgia continued to have a high level of flu activity.
Florida is moderate.
