TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A new park is coming to Tallahassee. Thanks to a grant from AARP, the Capital City's Greater Bond neighborhood will now have a new green space.

The $8,800 grant will help build a 860-foot linear park that will serve as a connector to two existing neighborhood parks, Speed Spencer Stephen's Park and the St. Marks Historic Railroad Trail.

The park will feature a 10-foot wide trail and a variety of amenities accessible to all age groups.

"We will provide a amenity for social connection, for health and wellness, it will encourage people to walk and get out of their homes and out of cars and community connection," said Curtis Richardson, City of Tallahassee Commissioner. "That's what we are seeking to address through this linear park in the improvements to the bond community."

Construction of the linear park is scheduled to begin in August.
