Man arrested in connection to Wakulla County homicide

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla.(WTXL) — The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect accused of shooting and killing a woman over the weekend at a home in Crawfordville.

On Saturday evening, a call was made to the Wakulla County deputies in regards to a shooting at a home on Hill Green Road in Crawfordville.

Deputy Sheriff’s of the Patrol Division responded and found a woman deceased at the scene.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time due to Marsy’s Law.

While responding to the scene of the shooting, some of the patrol deputies encountered a vehicle departing the area.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle, but it fled.

Deputies say they eventually stopped the vehicle on Spring Creek Highway, south of its intersection with Shadeville Road, and driver Edward McNeil Harris, Jr. was taken into custody.

Detectives and a Crime Scene Technician (CST) from the Criminal Investigations Division, as well as a CST from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, were dispatched to the scene to invetsigate.

On Sunday, detectives arrested Edward McNeil Harris, Jr. with first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and booked him into the Wakulla County Jail.

Authorities say the investigation is on-going.
