LOWNDES COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Lowndes County Tax Collector Rodney Cain wants to set the record straight.
This after the county commission chairman Bill Slaughter accused him of waiving over $3 million in penalty and interest fees.
"I’m a man of honesty and integrity and so, I don’t like anyone ever being presented this misinformation and I would like to clear it up," said Cain.
ABC 27 spoke with commissioner Slaughter who says the resolution that allowed Cain to wave the fees is expired and he requested the investigation to get the accurate numbers of tax payer dollars.
Cain says he would like a public apology from Slaughter.
