GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Thursday was another first for Second Harvest of the Big Bend, this time in Gadsden County.

Volunteers took 300 boxes of food to Little Lambs Temple in Midway.

The church fills their pantry with donations from Second Harvest but had never hosted a distribution before.

Organizers say the more focused efforts from Second Harvest are, in a word:

"It's very superb, because folks are needing it," said Georgia Cloud, the event coordinator. "We are working hand-in-hand in affiliation and partnership, making certain that all that we can't distribute for ones that does not have transportation, we make phone calls. We have a driver, that the van goes out and delivers to them to make sure to deliver to their homes door-to-door. So it is very imperative that those who are in need, that they come or make a connection."

Members from the Gadsden County School Board assisted with the distribution.

Second Harvest has two more distributions scheduled for Friday: One on Geddie Road in Tallahassee and another on 14th Street in Apalachicola in Franklin County.
