LEON COUNTY, Fla. — A Leon County woman can now do as she pleases in her new home after her last one was destroyed by a tornado in March.
It was the largest tornado to hit Leon County since 1954. The severe weather left at least 10 homes damaged, leaving the community devastated.
So, the state funded SHIP program came in. It is designed to help local residents deal with issues such as natural disasters.
Felicia Gilyard says she is grateful for the opportunity.
"How I feel right now, I'm very humbled God has put me in this position. So therefore when it did happen I was like, 'ok I'm cool,' so I feel really great and humbled and it's just a blessing," said Gilyard.
Gilyard now wants to help others when it comes to getting help from the SHIP program.
