LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County Schools is making sure students are able to get connected to the internet with the unveiling of a fleet of SmartBuses that will provide access to free Wi-Fi for students in need.
Thursday morning, Superintendent Rocky Hanna, joined by LCS Board Member Darryl Jones and State Rep. Lorranne Ausley, went to the Orange Avenue Apartments to unveil one of the LCS SmartBuses.
In all, LCS will provide 15 buses to be stationed throughout the community to provide access to free Wi-Fi for students in need.
The buses will deploy on Monday.
Each bus will radiate internet access for up to a radius of 100 yards (300 feet). Students won't get on the bus but they will be able to be properly socially distant themselves on chairs or blankets outside the bus.
To connect to the LCS SmartBus Wifi, turn on your Wi-Fi and connect to "LCSSmartBus" and then type in the password 'lcsguestbus.'
The buses will be on location Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The locations where the buses will be parked is below:
