LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County has opened an Emergency Operations Center in coordination with the Florida Department of Health in Leon County.

County officials say activation of this center will allow collaboration with the FDOH's Joint Information Center and will allow staff to engage key emergency support functions to create staffing and objective plans for COVID-19 response.

Leon County says their Emergency Management team has been monitoring COVID-19 since the first domestic case in January.

Although there are no local cases, over the past two weeks the team has begun coordinating stakeholder calls with healthcare providers, educators, first responders, and more.
