TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County leaders want you to join the "Not Too Much To Mask" challenge by posting selfies in masks to set an example for others and encourage your neighbors and friends to use masks and facial coverings in public.
County commissioners passed a mask mandate a few weeks ago that allows fines to be issued for people that refuse to follow the mandate.
Commission chairman Bryan Desloge says they launched the challenge to get people to follow along.
He says they hope seeing elected officials and leaders in the community wearing masks will convince others that it's not too hard to do.
"We have gotten about 50 community leaders that will step in, and there will be billboards, and there will be adds, and there will be all sorts of different things around the community that say it's not too much to mask," said Desloge.
You can join the challenge by simply posting a picture sporting your mask. Then, tell everyone why you are wearing one and use the hashtag '#NOTTOOMUCHTOMASK.'
If you do not have a mask, they are available for free at any public library in Leon County.
