LEON COUNTY, Fla. — The results are in for House District 7 and people had the chance to see it for themselves.
Republican Jason Shoaf won the 2019 special election against Ryan Terrell for the seat.
The Leon County Canvassing Board opened it's doors Wednesday to prove it. With their system, it lets people see any bubbles where a miscount would have been possible.
That helps build trust in elections with the evidence easily handy to back it up. And, Mark Earley, Leon County of Elections Supervisor, says they combed through every vote to be sure.
"That gives us a very, very high-level of assurance that our results are accurate and we don't just do an audit on a very small like one percent of our ballots," said Earley. "We re-scan and re-tabulate 100 percent of our ballots."
Leon County is one of only seven counties in the state that has the capability for this level of accuracy without hand counting.
The county says there was only one ballot in the special election that did not have a vote on it because the voter chose to leave it blank.
