LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Students in Leon County saw a change in leadership on Thursday.

It was the school district's annual Principal for a Day event.

Business and community leaders got to see what it really takes to run a public school and experience firsthand the successes and challenges that schools face.

The goal, to get more resources for Leon County Classrooms.

At Springwood Elementary School, Leon County Deputy Dave Teems took the reins.

"It's important to know overall in the community the hard work that goes into schools everyday and the principals have some of the hardest jobs," said Deputy Teems. "It's like a little city they are the mayors of little cities they've got to go in and handle all these problems and deal with different things that I don't think people realize when they look at a school."

And there was a private reception for participants to wrap up the event.
