TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Hurricane Season is just around the corner and the National Weather Service wants you to get prepared.

It's Hurricane Preparedness Week and Tuesday's topic is assemble disaster supplies.

Before hurricane season starts make sure you have enough food and water for each person for at least three days.

That food should be non-perishable and you should be able to eat it without having to cook it.

"Definitely want to have any supplies you need to maintain your health. If you have medication of special dietary needs, you want to make sure you have those supplies with you," said Kevin Peters, Emergency Management Director. "You want to have a copy of important papers, copies of your insurance paper, work copies of your bank and credit accounts."

Make sure you fill any prescriptions and have medicine on-hand. You should also get radios, batteries, and phone chargers.

Gas up your vehicle before the storm hits and make sure you've got extra cash on-hand.
