LIVE OAK, Fla. (WTXL) — Gov. Ron DeSantis addressed the coronavirus outbreak at the Suwannee Health and Rehabilitation Center in Live Oak, saying that the Florida Department of Health's Strike Team is actively investigating the situation.

At a Friday press conference in Jacksonville, DeSantis said that 51 people at the facility have tested positive for coronavirus. Of those who tested positive, 30 of them are employees at the facility.

He said FDOH has traced the positive cases back to a single employee who's been directly working with residents.

When ABC 27 first reached out to the facility, they said that they were "commended by various health care agencies" for their practices during a recent state inspection. You can read the facility's full statement here.

During the conference, DeSantis stressed that one of their main priorities is protecting the elderly population. He said that more than 85 percent of Florida's fatalities are people 65 and up.
