TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Gov. DeSantis announced Friday that all state-issued restrictions on youth activities, which includes summer camps and sports, will be lifted, effective immediately.
He made the announcement during a press conference on Friday.
"We trust parents to use common sense," Gov. DeSantis said.
The governor also emphasized that no kids have died from COVID-19 and no one under age 25 has died. While he acknowledged that children aren't immune to the virus, he asserted that, "kids don't get infected at the same rates" and are less at risk for hospitalizations.
Gov. DeSantis' order does not preempt individual counties from laying out their own rules for youth activities.
