TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Here's a golden opportunity for you to help: A woman in Tallahassee is hoping you can help her get a wedding ring back to its owner.

Michelle Treadwell found a ring while shopping at the Goodwill on Apalachee Parkway. She shared her story about finding the ring on Facebook Sunday afternoon. Since then, the post has gotten more than 4,000 shares.

She found the ring in a zippered part of a purse and doesn't believe the person meant for the ring to be donated along with it. Inside, it's engraved, and says "Missy to Andy, 8-16-69".

Goodwill doesn't keep records of who's donated items. But Treadwell is hoping to find its owner or their family, to give it back to them.

"At first I was like, 'Oh, someone left a piece of jewelry and then we saw what was in it,' and something in me was like, 'I have to find the owners,'" said Treadwell.

Treadwell says she's checked the Leon County Courthouse records, with no luck. She even had someone digging into Ancestry records across the U.S, but no luck there either.

Treadwell is hoping that it can be reunited with its owners, or at least their family, soon especially with Valentine's Day being later this week.
