GBI: Wanted gunman arrested in triple Tifton shooting

TIFTON, Ga. (WTXL) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested the suspect wanted in a triple shooting in Tift County.

Investigators say James Douglas Osby, 23,was arrested in Jacksonville on three counts of aggravated assault.

According to GBI, the shooting happened on the evening of Tuesday, May 12.

The Tift County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting in the 2700 block of Brunswick Street.

When they arrived, responding deputies found a 20-year-old and two 19-year-olds all suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were transported to a local hospital.

On Wednesday, warrants were obtained for Osby, for three counts of aggravated assault which resulted in his recent arrest.


The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is searching for a man wanted for a triple-shooting in Tifton.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, the Tift County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to assist in an aggravated assault investigation.

Agents say that on the evening of Tuesday, May 12, the Tift County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting in the 2700 block of Brunswick Street.

When they arrived, responding deputies found a 20-year-old and two 19-year-olds all suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were transported to a local hospital.

Wednesday, arrest warrants were obtained for James Douglas Osby, 23, for three counts of aggravated assault. Osby has not been taken into custody yet and have put out an alert to warn people to be on the lookout for him.
