QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) — The confederate monument in Quincy is gone.
Not long after Gadsden County commissioners voted in favor of removing it, the monument was taken down.
The move comes after petitions signed by thousands once-again sparked the conversation about controversial memorial.
Gadsden County Sheriff's Office shared live video via Facebook of the monument being removed.
During the Facebook live a man can be heard saying, “free at last, free at last, thank God almighty.”
The memorial from Gadsden County will be placed in a "secure location" while commissioners decide where it's new, permanent location will be.
