TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — FSU and FAMU are uniting to get more people excited about careers in STEM.
On Monday their joint College of Engineering held what they called the STEM Resume Cafe. The goal was to give students the opportunity to connect with STEM industry leaders and have them review their current resumes.
The program is aimed at getting more women to pursue STEM careers.
Briana Edwards is the College of Engineering Career Center Liaison. She wants students to know this field is for everyone.
"We like to have representation," said Edwards. "A lot of alum coming back to talk at the college, so we've had obviously a lot of women, a lot of different types of diversity and making sure students know that you know that the people that look like you are also in the field and they're coming back to help you guide you along the way."
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering will host a STEM Career and Internship Fair Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and for the first time in the program's history will have workshops to talk about the importance of diversity.
