TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is helping prepare to high school students for spring break with a drunk driving simulation event at Florida High on Friday.

Its called Operation Spring Break.

Students participated in the simulation acting as injured victims and careless drivers while first responders showed them how to respond in various situations.

The goal was to educate young people on the importance of not drinking and driving.

"I guess many people are under the assumption that if they don't see it then they don't believe," said Cassidy Bonn, Florida High president. "And even though they might not be the ones drinking and driving, they can still be hit by someone who is, and they need to be aware of that. They are not the only driver on the road, that there is dangers all around you and to make those smart decisions to be aware and about their life and others."

With a high volume of trauma-related accidents, TMH continues to help local schools educate students on repercussions related to impaired driving.
