TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — First Florida Credit Union is taking their annual youth financial literacy program to the web this summer.

Before COVID-19, local branches would host CAMP CEO to help high schoolers learn finance fundamentals like budgeting and building credit.

Since they're not able to do so in person this year, starting Monday they'll host a 15 minute session each week on Facebook. Each session will havew a different focus.

They'll start with how to budget and prepare for unforeseen emergencies, like COVID-19.

"We're going to talk about what our actual needs are and how you can actually adjust that during times of crisis," said Hannah Crow, a community resource specialist at First Florida Credit Union. "And you rely on your savings in times of crisis because we never know when these things are going to happen, so that's a foundational lesson we're going to teach, especially in the midst of COVID-19."

The information is free.

Parents and teens can tune in on their Facebook Page June 22 through 26 at noon by clicking here.
