GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — First responders were out Thursday helping medical workers with Gadsden County's first COVID-19 testing center.
To make sure the site will flow smoothly, first responders drove through, some even getting a test.
This is the first location for the county. Previously people in Gadsden had to make the trip to Leon County in order to get a test.
The site will conduct 50 tests per day.
One first responder says this new opportunity will change the county.
"It calms it in a way, but it also heightens it too, because we're really unsure," said Gadsden County Sheriff's Office Lt. William Buckhalt. "I guess this is the way we're fixing to find out. "
The site opens to the public Saturday morning at Capital Regional Medical Center's Gadsden Campus ER.
Testing times will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, and 1p.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
