MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say a 20-year-old driver is dead after being involved in a head-on collision on I-10 in Madison County.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred Tuesday at 11:34 p.m. on I-10 at Mile Marker 260 in Madison County.
FHP says a Subaru Outback was driving the the wrong way in the westbound lane on I-10. Meanwhile, a Honda Civic was also traveling in the westbound lane but heading the opposite direction.
As a result, the Subaru crashed head-on into the Honda. The impact of the crash then caused the Honda to rotate counter clockwise before coming to a final stop.
The driver of the Honda was identified as Eric Ricketts Jr., 20, of Riviera Beach.
Troopers say Ricketts was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the Subaru was identified s Robert Evan Gray, 36, of Tallahassee.
He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare with minor injures.
Authorities say charges are pending.
At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the accident.
