TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Now that students have returned to campuses across Tallahassee's colleges and universities, they're stepping up in the fight against COVID-19.
Student government leaders from Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee Community College have joined with local leaders for Pledge TLH, an online promise to practice healthy habits to prevent viral spread.
They hope their initiative will lead the way in the community.
"Florida State, FAMU, and TCC are all three pillars in the community in three different aspects," said Xavier McClinton, the FAMU student body president. "So whenever you see these pillars in the community, and I think it starts with the students, if we can come in and realize collectively that, hey, this is something that we need to take seriously, that we value, and that we really take pride in, I think that you'll see the rest of the Tallahassee community follow along as well."
While the student leaders hope their efforts will be far-reaching, they're also planning a competition between campuses to determine which can raise the highest percentage of participation.
