TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Family Worship and Praise Center, alongside the USDA Summer Food Service Program, is giving away hundreds and hundreds of pieces of fish.
This is the second time this year the center has hosted the drive-thru fish fry and they expect to do a few more fish frys before the end of the year.
Boxes can include fish as well as chicken and sides.
Although businesses are starting to reopen, there is still food insecurity across Tallahassee.
"As we get towards the end of this pandemic, the hunger is still there, the need is still there," said Marcus Scott, an elder at Family Worship & Praise. "While we want to be wise as we're opening up, we still want to provide the community with the opportunity to eat because hunger doesn't leave us."
During May, the church was able to give away 1,200 pieces of fish. Friday, they expect to give away 3,000 pieces.
