CHATTAHOOCHEE, Fla. (WTXL) — As the investigation into two deaths in Tallahassee's southside on Wednesday continues, a community is remembering the man killed in the stabbing that led to that officer involved shooting.
Friday night Malik Jackson's family released balloons during a vigil in Chattahoochee.
The group also lit candles and shared stories about Jackson.
Jackson's family says their faith is getting them through this difficult time.
"I just want everyone to know that he was a good boy," said Rachel Hayes, Jackson's stepmom. "He was just a good boy. No evil in him. No strife. He was good, just good and he was a Christian. He told me so."
"It's just so sad, so young," said Ruth McWhite, Jackson's great-grandmother. "But, just like she said, he knew the lord and that's all that mattered. He knew the lord and you can make it if you try."
So far, police have not said how McDade and Jackson knew each other or what could have led to the stabbing.
