TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — One nursing home in Tallahassee is doing its best to keep spirits high during the coronavirus pandemic, and they're coming up with creative ways to do so.
Social distancing requirements aren't enough to stop Your Life Memory Care assisted living facility from making sure those in their care feel love from their families.
Even though visitation is technically suspended at the assisted living facility, family members line the nearby street to get as close as they can to loved ones.
One couple went all out to surprise a mother with Alzheimer's.
"She's a sassy little lady, and we have not been able to see her for over a month, " said Jarenda and Richard Clark. "So when they said that they were going to do the parade, and we just decided to go all out and do the best we could to get her attention."
Attendees made sure Richard Clark's mother and her peers dressed for the occasion and sat them up to enjoy it six feet apart.
Being here, Clark says, was worth it just to see his mother's smile.
"Yes, we get to see her smile and, you know, all the people we miss them all so much," said Clark. "And we try to be out every Sunday when we could, obviously now it's not like that anymore, but maybe, hopefully this will be over soon."
This is just one of the events Your Life Memory Care has planned to keep families connected. Next week, they're inviting families to place gardens on loved ones windows.
