TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Students at Fairview Middle School now have an updated gym and Principal Scott Hansen says students can't wait to get inside.
He says the old gym was getting more and more unsafe and there weren't any restrooms for guests.
In a 10-month renovation the school added a new lighting and sound system, two restrooms, two multi-purpose rooms, and rubber suspension for the floors.
The new gym will hold about a thousand people.
"Modern suspension floor with rubber underneath. It's the best around. All the glass backboards, the new bleachers, new sound system, new lighting. So a total remodel," said Principal Scott Hansen. "The locker rooms are all redone with new bathrooms. We added a concession area, trophy cases. We also added bathrooms in the concession areas."
Principal Hansen says the first big event held in the gym will be the 8th graders' transition to 9th grade.
