TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Tallahassee City Commissioners discussed Wednesday the next steps for the Northwood Centre after buying the 30 acres of land last week.
Included in that sale, the El Jalisco Mexican Restaurant on North Monroe Street.
There are 10 El Jalisco Mexican Restaurants across North Florida, and General Manager Victor Carranza was certain that the North Monroe Street location would stay put for a couple more years.
They renovated the spot, taking a chance on one of the locations bringing in the most money.
"We wanted to make sure we did everything to make it look good," said Carranza. "We did the investment not knowing everything that was going to happen."
Carranza said they put an offer in during the auction, but never heard back.
Now, Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey said the plan is to honor the leases for those tenants while they figure out what happens next.
