TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee community is stepping up for the employees at one restaurant forced to shut down during one of its busiest weekends.

We first told you last Friday that Savour had to shut down over Valentine's Day weekend for deep cleaning. Two employees tested positive for COVID-19, leaving the owner, Drew McLeod to make the tough decision.

To help support the employees missing out due to the closure, McLeod created a Facebook donation page. Over the course of the weekend, $8,400 was raised to help the employees, exceeding the goal by almost $1,000.

"I'm blown away by the amount of money, but the number of donors and the neighbor to neighbor support we're getting from the community; I've been here a long time and I've never experienced anything like this," said McLeod.

He says the restaurant will reopen Tuesday, February 16. Any money that exceeds his goal will be donated to another restaurant that had to shut its doors temporarily.
