LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Leon County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a second person has died after a car was found in the water at Coe Landing over the weekend.

Sunday night just after 6 p.m., deputies say they responded to a vehicle that had driven into Lake Talquin at Coe Landing.

When deputies arrived on scene, they helped the Tallahassee Fire Department get the vehicle out of the water with a winch. Two women, 35-year-old Lindsay Beagles and 56-year-old Christen Johnson, were found inside the car. Deputies say they performed life saving measures on both women.

Beagles was pronounced deceased on scene and Johnson was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Sadly, Johnson passed away early Wednesday morning from injuries she received during the accident.

The Leon County Sheriff's office is on scene after a car was found in the water at Coe Landing with two people trapped inside.

Johnson was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition. Beagles was pronounced deceased on scene.

Deputies say two women were driving down Coe Landing Road but didn't slow down and ended up in the water. Authorities say they arrived approximately 15 minutes after the car went into the water.

One witness says he was loading up his boat when he saw everything as it happened.

"They were coming down the road speeding, and ... I didn't know they weren't going to stop, but they just kept going, and they hit the water , that's when i noticed a lady was saying, 'I don't want to die, I don't want to die,' she kept saying it repeatedly," said Burnell Graham, a witness of the accident.

Deputies are asking people to please be cautious in the area.
