LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A man has been arrested after he shot at a woman and a young child and, when confronted by another woman, placed a gun against her head and threatened to kill her.

The Liberty County Sheriff's office says that responded to a shooting incident at the recreational area in the Apalachicola National Forest on Tuesday. After an investigation, deputies learned Brandon Scott Cross, 21, had gotten upset with a woman who was swimming with a young child.

They say the Bristol man pulled out a handgun and fired a round into the water in the direction of the woman and child. That's when another woman confronted Cross, and deputies say he allegedly placed the gun against her head and threatened to kill her.

Before deputies arrived, Cross left the area.

On Thursday, Cross was found and arrested by the Liberty County Sheriff’s office on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and an out of county warrant.

He is currently being held on $100,000 bond for the aggravated assault with a firearm charges, but is being held without bond for the out of county warrant.
