OCHLOCKNEE, Ga. (WTXL) — An organization in South Georgia is now caring for seven abandoned horses that were left in a field with little to no food or water.

An incident report shows the animals were left in the field north of Moultrie from a dude ranch in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue in Ochlocknee is now caring for the horses.

It will take months to rehabilitate them. Costing the rescue group around $8,400 for its care.

"They had no food, no hay, no water except a pond," said Anita Meisen of Dancing Cloud. "In the sheriff's investigation, they found a water tank that had been tipped over with no water in it. It's infuriating that this guy came down from Tennessee, and dumped them down here to die. No care whatsoever. They could not have survived."
