WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — One couple in Wakulla County has found the purr-fect way to spread some holiday cheer.
For the second year in a row, Bonnie Stelzenmuller & Ken Klizbe have offered to sponsor adoptions for every pet in the Wakulla Animal Services shelter.
This is the time of year when shelters experience crowding after many hunters abandon their hound dogs. Just last week, they had to move 20 dogs to another rescue center. Klizbe said he and Stelzenmuller hope their gift will help more than just our furry friends.
"When you adopt from the shelter," said Klizbe, "you save, it changes like many lives, not just the people that adopt the critter, but the people at the shelter that work so hard." He adds that they don't make their offer for the sake of recognition, but because of their love for all creatures.
ABC 27 spoke with Wakulla Animal Services, and they say they appreciate what Ken and Bonnie are doing for the community.
Currently, the shelter has 11 dogs and 26 cats waiting for free adoption, spaying and neutering included.
All you have to do is give them a call and tell them Ken and Bonnie sent you.
