TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The conversation about race relations isn't only happening in the streets.

Community members met to discuss how to enact change and come together in the community.

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and the Tallahassee chapter of the National Action Network hosted the 'From Rhetoric to Action Symposium' on Thursday.

The symposium addressed police-community relations, banking and financial discrimination, healthcare, and the importance of voting.

Reverend RB Holmes says the main goal of the symposium is to be the start of action and not just more talking.

"We do a lot of talking, we do a lot of talking about this and that, but no real solutions," said Holmes. "We felt now is the time to bring in our community stakeholders. Let's talk about an action plan and I'm always encouraged and optimistic about the person we brought in here "

Reverend Holmes says he hopes to continue these talks and find solutions to bridge the gaps in the community.
