BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) — Dozens of community leaders from all over South Georgia toured Downtown Bainbridge Thursday afternoon as a part of Locate South Georgia LEADS.
Throughout the year, people from 21 counties come together to learn how local resources can be better used. While in Bainbridge, the group saw some of the many development projects currently underway and heard about the different things the city is doing to help growth.
Locate South Georgia LEADS is in its third year and program alumni are already making a difference in their communities.
"Our graduates, our alumni from the previous two years, including this year, have gotten engaged around rural issues," said Mary Beth Bass, a program coordinator with Locate South Georgia LEADS. "They attend the rural prosperity summit that's in Tifton each year. Any opportunity they have to voice their opinions or get involved around issues, whether it's rural broadband, rural healthcare, they have been."
This year's "Locate South Georgia LEADS" class graduates Thursday night, with nominations and applications for next year opening in the coming months.
