THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) — Last year, WTXL told you about "Check-Mate Industries," a business relocating from New York to the old "Caterpillar" building in Thomasville.
The company, which makes handgun magazines, won't open their doors in the Peach State until August 1st, but the owners are already looking ahead.
There have been discussions about expanding the current office space in the old building to better fit their needs in the coming years.
These discussions just show how eager the company owners are to be a part of the Thomasville community.
"We've been working with them for about two years to get to the announcement phase. It's been about a year of planning and prep, and they're already planning their next phase. It's very unusual. It just shows how excited they are about Thomasville," said Shelley Zorn, Executive Director of Thomasville Payroll Development Authority.
For those interested in working for Check-Mate, there is a job fair on Saturday, June 22 at Southern Technical Regional College.
The company hopes to have more than 200 employees once fully staffed.
