TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — In an effort to streamline COVID-19 testing statewide, the Bragg Memorial Stadium test site will begin cutting its hours starting Dec. 14.

The site currently accepts walk-up patients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Starting Monday, the site will close an hour earlier, accepting the last person to be tested at 4 p.m.

Florida A&M University's Director of Student Health Services, Tanya Tatum, said she doesn't think the change will cause them to turn anyone away, but that people can expect some delays even if they pre-register.

With students home for the holidays, the testing site expects to keep up with the demand.

"One of the things that's kind of fortunate for us right now this is a college town. Most of the students from our universities have already gone home," said Tatum. "So, even though we may see increased traffic during the travel period just before Christmas, I don't think that it'll be near what we noticed or what we had just before Thanksgiving. So while we will see you probably increase, the numbers I don't think will be as many as we had for Thanksgiving because then we had individuals waiting in line."

The site has averaged nearly 1,700 tests per day since Thanksgiving, with more than 123,000 tested to date.
