TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — A 19-year-old babysitter in Tallahassee has been arrested after being accused of molesting a 4-year-old child he babysat multiple times.

According to court documents, investigators responded to reports of a sexual battery at a home on October 7, 2019.

Investigators say the victim told her mother that she had been inappropriately touched by her babysitter, 19-year-old Braxton Upshaw.

The child's mother told officers that Upshaw babysat her two kids while she was at work on October 7.

When the child's mother came home from work, the victim stated that Upshaw sexually assaulted her. The victim's mother also told officers that when she came home from work that day, he seemed "very anxious" to leave.

Documents say Upshaw had been babysitting the victim since August 2019 and babysits them approximately two to four times a week.

During the investigation, officers collected samples from the child for a rape kit test.

While being interviewed, the victim told investigators, "He just hurts me all the time."

Later during the investigation, authorities interviewed Braxton, who denied the allegations. Investigators say he claimed his DNA wouldn't be found on the child and that her DNA would not be found on him.

DNA samples from Braxton were then collected and sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

An warrant was issued for his arrest in April and Braxton was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility on Sunday.

As of Monday, he is being held in jail without bond for lewd or lascivious molestation on a victim under 12 years old.
