APALACHICOLA, Fla. (WTXL) — The Apalachicola National Forest will temporarily close Silver Lake and Trout Pond Recreation Areas along with Spring Hill Motorcycle Trailhead Saturday for public safety and to secure the facilities to prevent possible damage from Tropical Storm Cristobal.
Forest Service officials will inspect and assess the recreation sites Monday morning during regularly scheduled cleaning operations from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
These sites will be reopened based on post-storm conditions of facilities and trails.
Everyone should use caution when traveling in the area.
Excessive rainfall can impair visibility and wash out Forest Service roads.
